There is a terrible fight going on within me between 2 wolves. One wolf tells me I cannot, I will not and I dare not. The other wolf tells me I can, I will, and I AM. Which wolf will win? The one that I feed.
I created MINUTE MANTRAS out of necessity...
I have so many thoughts going through my head at any given moment.
Most of the time they are positive because I’ve learned to be my own cheerleader.
But then there are those times when I am just mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted and I don’t have the energy to throw up the pom-poms that day.
In the past, I noticed that on these days I would feel more overwhelmed, have low self-esteem, drudge up all the negative shameful memories from the past and end up digging myself into a full blown pity party of depression.
This cycle went on for years before I decided that I was just tired of going down into the “chasm of despair”.
It was at this moment that I recalled a version of the Two Wolf story and decided that I was going to put my best effort into Feeding the Right Wolf.
But how?
I used positive affirmations as my mantra and it helped me to overcome the negative voices in my head. Mantras are defined as words or phrases that are repeated to aid in concentration on a certain intention.
Some may argue that mantras and affirmations are not the same.
Traditionally, mantras are words and syllables in Sanskrit that when sounded produce a certain frequency to create change within the mind and body.
Repeating affirmations is a direct offspring of this concept. Instead of using Sanskrit syllables, we replace these with a full phrase that speaks to a certain emotional or mental program also creating change within the mind and body.
I use these words interchangeably because I think they both utilize the same vehicle of intention and focus. But I’ll leave that debate to you.
My focus is on what it does vs how it’s defined.
I use Mantra/Repeated Affirmations as a way of refocusing and energizing my thoughts and plans.
I’ve used these affirmations in many ways: written on a piece of paper and hung on my wall, even having a picture of the phrase on the home screen of my phone so that I see it each and every time I open my phone.
But one of the most powerful ways has been listening to the phrases whenever I feel the “pom poms” coming down.
This is where MINUTE MANTRAS come in.
Each MINUTE MANTRA is less than 5 minutes and designed to counteract a specific negative thought. Use them to start or end your day in the most positive way and/or use them throughout the day for boosts of encouragement and focus. They each have a phrase that’s repeated within the track. Take that phrase and use it even when the track is over.
